Gliding is one of the oldest air sports, and already saw some significant developments in the 20s. In 1929, gains of height in excess of 2500 metres had already taken place. The sport has come a long way since then, and today's machines are pushing all limits back. Check for yourself on these pages... speeds over 230 km/h and distances of more than 2400 km have been flown recently, which gives you a flavour of the potential of the current gliders.
