Microlight aviation is very close to the spirit of the original aviation: piloting your own aircraft, flying a craft that can be safely landed in any farmers field, ability to fly cross country, and land or take off in short distances without being dependent on heavy infrastructures. At the same time, the performances of these machines, as shown on these world record pages, have improved dramatically since microlights (or ultralights as they are sometimes called) first took the sky.
